Romance and Women’s Fiction author Christy Hayes writes stories that ask realistic “what if” questions. “I love the romance genre because I adore the happy ever after ending,” Hayes explained from her home outside Atlanta, Georgia. “Sometimes even an optimistic ending is good enough for me. As an avid reader, I don’t like ending a book and wondering how the characters move on from where the author left them. I dislike romance novels that are silly or completely unrealistic. I’ve had wonderful comments from readers about my true-to-life characters. That’s the best kind of compliment!”

Hayes has three romance titles available through Amazon and two romantic women’s fiction. “I like mixing the genres of romance and women’s fiction because I believe strongly in the institution of marriage. Romance novels tend to focus on a couple’s journey from meeting to proposal. With my romantic women’s fiction titles, I’m able to explore the challenges of marriage.”

Hayes spent the first half of 2011 researching and indie-publishing five full-length novels. “Getting my work in front of readers has been a challenging and rewarding experience,” Hayes said. “I wouldn’t have been ready for this journey if I hadn’t spent years writing, working on craft, submitting to agents and editors, and toughening my skin under a mountain of rejection.” Hayes understands the challenges of self-publishing. “It’s a great time to be an author if you’re ready to take responsibility for your success as well as your failure.”
